Role Summary As the lead technical representative for Superior Technical Services, you will manage the regular maintenance, repair, installation, and de-installation of FEI, Philips, and ThermoFisher SEM, FIB, and Dual Beam equipment utilized in manufacturing support, research, and educational environments. Operating with minimal supervision, you will own the entire service lifecycle—from initial dispatch to fault identification and final resolution—for key accounts primarily located within the central United States territory, spanning from Texas to Wisconsin. Specific expertise with the Helios, Scios, and Apreo product lines is highly desired.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute comprehensive troubleshooting, installation, validation, maintenance, and advanced service repairs on designated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues on FEI/Philips and ThermoFisher SEM, FIB, and Dual Beam instruments, testing subsystems and analyzing performance data.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource, providing mentorship and training to less experienced Field Engineers.
  • Maintain proactive, transparent communication with internal teams to ensure all stakeholders are aware of issue statuses at all times.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with customers through regular follow-ups, driving long-term customer satisfaction.
  • Manage administrative duties efficiently, including updating customer service logs, writing internal reports in a timely manner, and ordering repair parts.

Qualifications & Expertise

  • Experience: A minimum of 15+ years of extensive, hands-on experience specifically servicing, maintaining, and troubleshooting FEI and ThermoFisher SEM, FIB, and Dual Beam systems is strictly required. Deep, highly specialized platform expertise supersedes formal educational requirements for this senior role.
  • Technical Acumen: Proven experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic equipment. Hands-on experience with the Helios series is highly desired.
  • Vacuum Systems: Proven experience diagnosing and repairing high vacuum pumps and related systems.
  • Electronics & Schematics: Strong ability to understand and troubleshoot digital and analog circuits, and the proficiency to read and interpret complex schematics as required.
  • Vacuum Systems: Proven experience diagnosing and repairing high vacuum pumps and related systems.
  • High Voltage Systems:  Proven experience measuring and qualifying high voltage (1kV to 30kV) electron detector and SEM and FIB columns.
  • Customer Excellence: Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with both internal team members and external clients as part of a solution-based service process , with strong English fluency.
  • Software Proficiency: Comfortable utilizing Mac computers , internet applications, and FileMaker Pro databases.
  • Professional Skills: Highly self-motivated, with excellent organization, time management, planning, and manual dexterity.

Travel & Physical Demands

  • Willingness to travel up to 30% (both domestic and international), requiring a valid driver’s license and an active US Passport.
  • Ability to maintain sufficient personal credit to finance travel expenses prior to standard company reimbursement, which is generally processed 5 days after report submission.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, which frequently involve standing, walking, reaching, stooping, using hands, and climbing.
  • Capability to communicate verbally and in writing, both by hand and electronically.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base Salary: $145,000 annually.
